Yes, you are actually seeing this!  There are ATM machines in Abu Dhabi that keep track of the current gold conversion rates and exchange your credit card or cash for gold bullion.  This is the first time gold has ever been dispensed in this style.  The ATM is located in the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi.  I can almost understand why they need this gold dispensing ATM machine at the Emirates Palace.  The type of business transactions that go on in the meeting rooms at the palace probably demand instant access to gold bullion.  I don't think they put it there if it would not be used.  More info
