In a proposed 3.5 billion dollar project Tommy Landau a designer from Santa Monica is working with the UAE to try and make his dream a reality. This 224 story skyscraper that Landau has dreamed up could only really happen in a place like Abu Dhabi right now. The skyscraper would be by far the tallest building in the world surpassing the Burj Dubai (drawing left) by some 60 stories! The blueprints call for 11 million square feet within the structure. Of course, in Abu Dhabi a structure of this magnitude would not just be built without careful planning, the skyscraper would be built ‘Green Friendly".
I really don’t know what to think of this. It would be a really cool project to follow. However, with several massive projects going on in the UAE right now many of which are stalled due to the sour economy I see this skyscraper taking a very long time to complete. Nonetheless, I am anxiously awaiting to hear more from the Abu Dhabi building commitee on this project.
